What do I need to know?
Affiliations
Affiliations are an annual fee that affiliates all students to the dojo, SA JKA Karate Association and Karate Syndicate (an "area" - or group of dojos - within SA JKA that work together for gradings, championships etc.)
It is payable upon joining and is renewable at the beginning of each subsequent year. Students will have an affiliation sticker placed in their Lifebook each year. This allows students to attend gradings, competitions, seminars, camps etc. It is presented when they participate at those events and when they go for their black belt at which point it is checked that they have an affiliation
sticker for each year of training. (See Lifebook)
Affiliations for 2025 are R640 per annum.
Joining Fee
A once off fee which covers the cost of the Lifebook and an embroidered badge for their karate suit.
Lifebook - This is like a passport or identity book. All affiliations stickers are placed in it each year and all gradings are recorded here as well. Any qualifications earned and seminars attended are also recorded. It is essentially a history of the student's karate career. If the student moves, the book is recognised nationally and internationally so they do not need to start at white belt again.
Gi Badge - This is an embroidered badge that is sewn on the left breast area of the students karate suit.
Joining fee is R195.
Monthly Fees

Monthly fees for 2025 are R650 per month and are payable in advance monthly.
